About Me

A little bit about me.
fam cruise

My name is Kourtney Kickhoefer and I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I have two sisters, Kelsey and Kacey (yes, I am the middle child and yes, it is great). Growing up my family's favorite thing to do was (and still is) travel. From Mexico to Hawaii, Kickhoefer summers and breaks were definitely not boring. It has been such a blessing to be able to travel the world with my family and experience things I never thought imaginable. By far my favorite trips are cruises. This past December we went on a cruise over Christmas to Honduras, Cozumel and Belize. Over Spring break we are going on another one to the same places and I get to bring my best friend Courtney and I can't wait!!!

Aside from my family's overwhelming love for travel, my childhood was pretty normal. My parents, like most, put me in EVERY sport possible. From basketball and soccer to gymnastics and dance; I did it all. I quickly fell in love with dancing and knew it was something I was extremely passionate about. Throughout elementary and middle school I did studio dance. I competed all around the world and won many national titles; I truly couldn't imagine anything better. By the time I got to high school I decided to join colorguard. My older sister was in marching band so I would go to all of her competitions. I was mesmerized by the colorguard and the way they used dance in correlation with equipment to produce such visual art. I spent my four years in high school pretty much living in the band hall. We had 3 hour rehearsals everyday after school and 12 hour Saturdays. I had no time to do anything else, but for some reason I kept going back. My junior and senior year I had the privilege of being captain. Our program was a nationally ranked band that traveled all over the country and won many awards. I wouldn't have traded my years in that program for anything.

they are some of my biggest supporters;)
"How did you find out about Hardin Simmons?"
Well I practically grew up here at HSU. My mom grew up in Abilene and my grandparents still live here. My grandfather was an anatomy and physiology professor here for 30 years along with being the tennis coach and is now currently the chairman of the board of trustees. Both of my parents attended school here. My mom graduated with her bachelors in '92 and again with her masters in '95. My dad graduated in '93 with his bachelors. Funny story, my dad took my grandfathers anatomy class his freshman year, failed it, and then proceeded to change his major (definitely something we don't let him forget). I love going to school here, from the moment I stepped on campus, I knew that it was home. I am currently on the spurs dance team, something I enjoy very much! It was comforting to already have friends coming into my freshman year in college because I felt like I belonged somewhere.

Anyway that's just a little about me. Thanks for reading :)

Personality Theories

Personality is made up of the characteristics that make someone unique such as thoughts feelings or behaviors. Research has shown that many external forces can influence the way that a personality is formed. One a persons personality is created there is little to no change throughout their life. So many people are interested in looking at how and why a certain personality is created that there is an entire branch of psychology dedicated to understanding it. A number of different psychologists including Sigmund Freud and Erik Erikson came up with theories that attempt to further understand personality and how it develops. There is a biological theory, psychodynamic theory and behavioral theory. - Biological Theory : Biological approaches state that genes control the way a personality develops within a person. This ties back to the nature-nurture debate I talked about last week leaning more toward the nature side of the debate. Biologists or any scientist for that matter tends to lea...
